Papa Hair

This Monday, Isaac went to get a hair cut with Mama and Julia. Cheryl let the stylist know that Isaac normally got a #4 on the sides and scissors on the top. Julia can be a handful on a good day and this was not a good day for her - sick and cranky Julia equals distracting Julia. This might explain both the stylist missing that last part and Cheryl missing the stylist missing that part! The Result: Isaac got a 'buzz cut'! #4 all over!

This was a shock but not a really bad thing. The really cute part was when Isaac saw his new 'do'. You should know that I normally get a #3 on top. Isaac saw the similarity and immediately lite up. He exclaimed, "I got a haircut like papa's!" He is still smiling at the mirror today. And I'm still smiling when I see him (but that doesn't ever change!)

Cock-a-roaches!

I love my wife. I just want that on record in case this photo shows up in court one day.

Actually, I did clear this with Cheryl before posting (sort of). But you just can't pass these up! Cheryl doesn't like cockroaches (I don't either). Last night. She called me (urgently) to come kill 2 roaches that were in the garage. I got them.

That's what I told her. At least I sprayed them both with the stuff made by Raid (for flies and ants). Cheryl made it to the washing machine before hearing one of them rustling in the gear on the floor where he scurried to after I sprayed him. That is when she mounted the machine!

To the rescue! I did what any red-blooded American man would do seeing his wife panicked atop an appliance. I went for my camera-phone! (and then I smashed the roach flat!) I did, however need to ferry my wife, ala 'piggy-back ride' back inside.

BY ORDER OF MY WIFE:
I am obligated to report that in the ruckus of attacking said cockroaches, one did run at me and I did do a bit of a dance ... Ok I hopped around a LOT! ...and almost screamed like a girl!

OK... Comments are not Email!

This is the dirty look I give you!
Just a quick open letter to my family. While I do love to get comments, it is traditionally a tool for responding to the POST AT HAND! Ok. You guys are cool, but next time ... just drop me an email!

A Snake Tail

Yep, the other day we had a little excitement at the Landes house. As I was walking out the front door with Julia in my arms, I noticed an unusual item down low to the right. As I started to walk out through the screen door I realized it was a snake. Not just any little grass snake. Not just a glimpse of the tail of a snake from a distance. This was a close encounter with a large snake stuck to the side of the house inside the front doorway area ... right where I was walking. Before we go any further, I want it on the record that, although I did scream, it was a manly scream and it bore no resemblance to the scream of a little girl! I also jumped back inside - post haste!

Rather humorously, my first reaction was to get a camera! (We do have some video, too!). Isaac came running and thought the whole thing was cool. I did, too, except for the walking up on it part!

If you don't know this about me yet, I don't like to kill things for no good reason. (Hunting is a good reason, and so is my disdain for coachroaches, mosquitos and ants - no qualms killing those on sight!) So, I called for animal control. The police showed up instead because Animal Control doesn't work on the weekends. What did they do. Kill it. Well, heck! I could've done that. And, I dare say I wouldn't have broken my hoe doing it (yes, they een asked to borrow my tools to do it ... and broke the hoe.) Ah, well. Enough fun for one day!

Ahhh...

Wow, almost a month since my last blog. I'm just too busy right now! I can't believe how much I need to get caught up on! That thing that Isaac said the other day ... so funny. Julia started doing another thing, and then ... oh ... that other thing! Yeah. Gah, so much! I'll Be back soon... back to work!
